I read this book during a time of great stress in my life, and it made me happy the way the Harry Potter series made me happy. My Nephew said I needed a good adventure: "here aunt Reba, you like owls!" And I do! Have one tattooed on my arm - LOL - Ok, not a relevant side note but.... Anyway, the book is a great deal of fun and it offers a wonderful adventure and a beautiful friendship between a young boy and a young girl trying to change their world - a dark, dark place. The book is a little dark in places, but that's partly what makes this book so good - and the story so compelling. The only drawback is that there was no part two or three or four .... it is not part of a series. I can't help but wonder, as a reader: why not? Christine Brodien-Jones, really why not??? Consider continuing with this venture -- If you need a reader .... I would be happy to oblige!

The Owl Keeper Christine BrodienJones Maggie Kneen 9780385738149 Books Reviews

I think it was a good book, but it was transparent in a way that I could tell what would happen next.
There were a few things that I didn't like. I was an interesting story. There were a lot of twists.
Great for everyone. Mystery, fighting, owls and freedom fighters. Good for kids and adults alike. Took place in 2066. Five stars .
What a lovely book. Written for the young reader I enjoyed it just as much as an adult. Orwellian fantasy; good vs. evil; and children & owls who save the day. I love owls - everything about them so I was drawn to this book because of that. The cover art is beautiful so I bought hard copy instead of the kindle version.
The Owl Keeper was a delightful read. After turning the last page I was left with a feeling of hope for humanity. The descriptions are full and well written allowing the reader to get an image of this world of good and evil. Hope to see more by the author.
I enjoyed every word in this post-apocalyptal fantasy. While this dark new universe is not a pretty picture, there is no shortage of beauty, hope, and familial loyalty in this imaginative tale.

I am an adult who loves futuristic subject matter and found this to be right up there with Margaret Atwood in terms of innovation and vivid imagery. Brodien-Jones has created a world you want to watch in this fast-paced cautionary tale.

The little heroic owl is peace personified. Her survival in an increasingly vicious world is at the center of the story for Max and Rose, the two young warriors. These two unwittingly evolve into brave soldiers who embark on a frightening journey filled with close calls, slimy creatures and deteriorating landscapes. One wonders why anyone would want to live in such a world. The hateful High Echelon "government" is interested in robotic devotion and will use any means to wipe out independent thought. Thank goodness there are rebels like Max, Rose, and their serene white owl who fight for the right to be themselves.

More please.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing and reading well into the night. It does get a bit dark in theme but it's relevant to the story. Excellent writing and editing!
