I bought this book because I was in a May/December Romance kind of mood and I found it on a list. It was good, but it was more about a widower getting over his wife and moving on, than about the age difference. Yes, Admiral was 53 and Zoe, I believe, was 29. The age difference was brought up many times in the Admirals POV as a huge issue, but Zoe never minded. I suppose I was looking for more of a how the age would come into play sort of dynamic...idk. I still liked it, but I didn't love it. I believe what really held me back was, and this is no fault of the author's, that I am not a big war fan. There were many 'unpleasant' realities that the author detailed in this book. I give her props because she did a good job and making the reader feel how terrible Nam and chemical warfare was/is, but, again, not what I really want to feel in a romance. I think, while this was necessary to the plot, is was not something that I enjoyed reading about (due to my own personal tastes), but there are many out there who would love this plot. As far as characters, I found both H/h likable. I may read more in this series, to see how the second goes, but not sure if I will read them all. If you like SEALs/secret ops/military/May-Dec romances, YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK.

The Admiral Bride Suzanne Brockmann 9780778322917 Books Reviews

Too much mush and sex
Covert operations, love story between older man and younger woman. Just another good Brockmann story. She can't write a bad one.
I don't know what more I can say....I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I have never read Suzanne Brockmann before, but you can bet from now on she is on my must buy list.

The depth of characters were wonderful. I loved the struggle Jake had with not only the age difference, but with coming to terms with it being ok to love his dead wife, and the new woman in his life, Zoe. Zoe is such a strong independent woman, but at the same time, sensitive, and loving.

For those of you who like action, suspenseful, romantic books...you MUST READ THIS BOOK.
A religious zealot and his cult of merry Montana polygamists have stolen a deadly nerve gas and plan to release it as a political statement. Admiral Jake Robinson decides that it's time to return to undercover SEAL duty to infiltrate the group using his elite "gray" ops group with the aid of Zoe Lange, a beautiful and young CIA agent/scientist.

It's been three years since his beloved companion of 30 years passed away (non-comformist artist Daisy only agreed to marry him just before dying), but this assignment has Jake taking a wife - at least for the mission. He soon finds himself attracted to his "intended." Turns out she's the daughter of the 427th person that Jake's team rescued in Vietnam.

I wanted to like this book. The character of Jake is so charismatic and deserving of his own story after appearing in Crash's story. I loved that Jake still mourned the loss of Daisy and had a difficult decision moving on without her. But at the same time - ick. Zoe was way, way too young for him. And I never got a feeling that she felt anything more than hero worship while he was just itching a scratch after three years of celibacy. It would have been better if her character was at least a little mature, but she was completely petulant and childish throughout the story. And if Zoe said "Holy Mike" one more time...

I wasn't really enamored with the plot line overall - the military action/suspense just wasn't there, and what little there was, was highly implausible. There was very little action in the plot. The fact that the highly trained active duty SEALS were relegated to basically hanging out and playing cards (or watching Zoe on video while chatting about her and Jake's relationship) was a complete joke. In order to fully appreciate Jake's character, read "Hawken's Heart" first which features Jake and Daisy in a secondary storyline, as well as giving insight to Jake's relationship with Crash Hawken.
My favorite series, but all her nooks sre good.
I love this book..I didn't think that i would since i had read one of Suzanne's books that had the Admiral and his first wife in the story..In this book his wife had passed away and he didn't think he would ever find love again, especially with a younger woman..I really liked this book and now it is one of my keepers...As always, Suzanne Brockmann's books are well written and very enjoyable.
Borrowed it from the library and then bought it to have in my permanent collection. Loved the characters, the story and the way it was written. Also loved the fact that while there was an age difference, the heroine wasn't 19 so the hero could still be in his 40s. Jake may be 53, but he makes it look good. He is honorable and you can definitely see why Zoe never cared about his age...that is so relative when it comes to everything else he brought to the story.

Definitely worth it!
